The Pop-up Museum Saturday on 26 October 2024 will take place at the PJ Olivier Art Centre while the Rupert Museum is temporarily closed for maintenance. The Rupert Museum is scheduled to reopen by the end of February 2025, and during this period will continue with Pop-up Museum Saturdays with activities like the ones below.
1. Drawing from Nature: The Ecology of Play (8-12yrs)

Can you draw with scissors? Can you draw with string? In this joyful celebration of making, doing, sharing, and creating, we depart from the idea that drawing is limited to pen and paper. You will explore how to understand, connect with, and preserve nature through various drawing exercises. Together, we will construct a paper mural with “The Forest” as focus.
Moms, your creative child will learn to access their creativity through this playful experiment as they collaborate on a paper mural, expressing our connection with Mother Nature. A communal paper mural will in the end express our connection with Mother Nature. Instructor Francesco Nassimbeni’s unique method of encouraging non-prescriptive free expression of ideas will surely delight and inspire.

2. Drawing from Nature for Teens: Into the Forest (13-16yrs)
13:00 – 16:00 | R120pp | Includes materials + snack pack
Can you draw with scissors? Can you draw with string? In this joyful celebration of making, doing, sharing, and creating, we depart from the idea that drawing is limited to pen and paper. Using various tactile materials, we will immerse ourselves in drawing activities that uniquely interact with the forest.
We will construct a paper mural with the theme “The Forest” to celebrate biodiversity through collage and papercraft, folding, cutting, and applique. Expect twirling ferns, mysterious fungi, cascading vines, and fantastical flowers as we engage with what it means to be alive in an evolving ecosystem.
