Whilst the Opening of Parliament on Valentine’s Day, Thursday 14 February 2013, means that vehicular traffic cannot use Adderley Street and the Heerengracht between Wale Street and Hertzog Boulevard; this area will certainly be open for pedestrians.
As such, the Adderley Street flower sellers will be able to sell their goods within the Trafalgar Place Flower Market, on what is traditionally their busiest day, to passers-by.
The City of Cape Town has maintained from the start that the flower sellers should be accommodated during the opening of Parliament. The Adderley Street flower sellers are an integral part of the historical and cultural fabric of the city and are a sterling example of the commitment it takes to make a business thrive.
Capetonians are encouraged to visit the Trafalgar Place Flower Market between Adderley Street and Parliament Street on Valentine’s Day to purchase flowers from the iconic flower sellers who have pulled out all stops to make sure that a special array of flowers are available for a special day.
Parking is available in Darling Street and other streets in close proximity for motorists wanting to visit the flower market.
