Abalimi is at a crossroads, after 38 years in the field. Each year Abalimi supports between 1200 and 2000 unemployed people to start or maintain their home or community gardens with training, seeds, seedlings, manure, and follow-up or mentoring. I
In turn, these gardeners feed approximately 6260 – 9400 dependents each year. In addition, many of them sell their surplus vegetables to earn a modest income.
In order for Abalimi to continue their important service to the unemployed in the townships, they need additional financial support to bridge a funding gap over November and December 2019.
Abalimi’s target is to raise R300 000.
If you can assist with any amount, small or large it will make a big difference. Just R100 goes a long way and enables Abalimi to provide one new home gardener to get training and start-up resources to establish their garden. Of course, if you can donate more we would deeply appreciate it.
A donation form with options and bank details can be found here . No need to fill out the form if this is inconvenient – just do an EFT and send Abalimi an email giving your physical address and alerting them to your donation on info@abalimi.org.za so that we can supply you with an income tax certificate.
Here is a brief overview of the work done by Abalimi – in case you would like to remind yourself about what they do, or you can visit their website here.
