After a successful 33-city tour of The Netherlands and Belgium, Cape Town Opera’s African Angels returns home with a fantastic program of moving and uplifting African songs mixed with American gospel and opera classics.

African Angels is presented by Cape Town Opera in collaboration with Oude Libertas Amphitheatre and Artscape.

African Angels is a new Cape Town Opera concert, filled with choreographed dance and music performed by 18 of our best South African chorus singers. Audiences are treated to the best of Gershwin – “Summertime”, “I got plenty o’ nuttin” and “Oh Lawd, I’m on my way” from “Porgy & Bess” – traditional spirituals such as “The Battle of Jericho” and “Ol’Time Religion” and classic South African songs such as “Weeping” and “Come Colours Rise”.

Directed by well-known Dutch chanteuse Leoni Jansen, with choreography by Jacki Job and musical direction by Albert Horne.

A performance by Cape Town Opera is always a thrilling event!
