Art on Avenues – Contemporary Art Gallery, in the heart of Somerset West, is hosting an exciting new group exhibition titled ‘(f)ases’.
This exhibition will be featuring ten well established and emerging contemporary South African artists.
Exhibition title: ‘(f)ases’
The word Fases – Comes from the Ancient Greek word phásis – which means appearance. The word Phases – a distinct period or stage in a series of events or a process of change or development
In this modern digital age, social media platforms allow us to take a peek into countless people’s lives and the different phases or stages of their lives (No matter how real/fake they may appear) we too as individuals capture and portray different phases of our lives, this month you click ‘Like’ next month you delete a friend or reject a request, dislike that page and loving that one’s post, we are constantly changing and evolving our ‘image’.
Through their own unique interpretation the artists created portraits/figures exploring the outward image of the individual and the phases said individual goes through whether physical or otherwise, within the digital age we live in.
