Come celebrate wetlands and the birdlife they support with BirdLife South Africa, the Cape Bird Club and the City of Cape Town who host the Birdathon and Family Fun Walk at False Bay Nature Reserve on 4 May. It’s billed as ‘a step in the right direction’.

Wetlands are important natural areas as they play a critical role in the environment, provide many key ecological functions and are home to numerous bird and animal species. You will also be able to soak up information on the importance of the area, be invited to ask and answer questions and receive a chart of a few of the more common birds that can be spotted along the way.

In addition, Eagle Encounters Raptor Rehabilitation Centre will also be on hand during the event to give up-close-and-personal information on live birds of prey, you will be able to enter a lucky draw at the end of the route and stand the chance of winning great prizes, and the first 500 participants to register, and complete the event, will receive a free fish and chip lunch courtesy of John Dory’s.
