Cape Town City Ballet presents the world première of The Tin Soldier, a new ballet choreographed by Robin van Wyk.
Based on the Hans Christian Andersen classic The Steadfast Tin Soldier, it’s a tale of a little boy who receives a set of tin soldiers for Christmas, but one of the soldiers has a broken leg. At midnight the toys come to life and the Tin Soldier falls in love with a beautiful ballerina. Kicked out of the toy room by the evil Jack-in-the-Box, the Tin Soldier embarks on a wonderful adventure, during which he meets cats, water-babies, fishermen and a flirtatious cook.
