Two special concerts in April and May!

The Cape Town Concert Series is particularly excited to welcome members of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra to the Baxter concert platform for their next recital taking place on Saturday 22 April at 11am!

They will be repeating three works which featured at the Franschhoek Chamber Music Festival in February. The concert will open with the Pian e Forte Sonata by Gabrielli for brass ensemble and then will follow with Mendelssohn’s String Octet and Dvorak’s Serenade for Winds (with added cello and double bass).

For more in-depth reading on the upcoming programme you can take a look at the latest Inside the Concert with Albert Combrink HERE

It is rare to be able to present three larger chamber works such as these on a  Cape Town Concert Series programme, and you are invited to meet the musicians after the concert in the foyer where you can ask them about their music making. The orchestra is also currently busy preparing for their new season.

As always the Baxter bar and restaurant are open before and after the concert for refreshments.

And coming up in May! Bel canto tenor Levy Sekgapane who is based overseas, studied under Kamal Khan and Hanna van Schalkwyk at the South African College of Music at the University of Cape Town, is one of South Africa’s great opera success stories. He will be in Cape Town Opera’s production of George Bizet’s masterful French opera The Pearl Fishers from 10 to 14 May 2023.
