The Watershed and the Two Oceans Aquarium were top of of our list when we visited the V&A Waterfront.
You can spend all your day to the V&A Waterfront! There is a big shopping centre, restaurants, museums and others touristic activities. At night you can come with your friends and have fun until 22 :00.  We also learnt about open museum night  at the V&A on Thursday 14 July.
THE WATER SHED
If Cape Town seduces you like it seduced us, you must record memories of your trip. Indeed at the V&A Waterfront, just in front of the Two Oceans Aquarium, there is a place, The Watershed. This big hall can offer you a shopping experience concerning the world of African craft and design.
In fact my lovely friend Lea and I went there after lunch. If you are looking for jewellery, clothes, paintings and things like that don’t search anymore, you can find here handmade things. Lea found very beautiful jewelry and I preferred the different canvases, which were really impressive. And they reflect as much as possible the different aspects of South Africa. Concerning the price we found them more or less reasonable but my point of view can be confused due to the prices in my country. But you have to keep in mind it is a touristic place so the price could be higher.
Then we were to the second stage, where you can find coffee shops and restaurants and also a work place. So great, one more place visited! Let’s continue the discovery of this awesome town!
TWO OCEANS AQUARIUM
How can you enjoy the V&A Waterfront without visiting the Two Oceans Aquarium. In fact we took this opportunity to learn more about this famous destination. (TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, awarded it 10th place in the 2014 Travellers’ Choice Zoo and Aquarium Awards.)
We arrived in the morning and we were introduced to the aquarium by Mrs Sinclair. She gave us some information about the aquarium. Indeed we didn’t know that the Two Oceans has such in an environmental way of thinking. Indeed renewable energies (solar panels for example) are used to avoid carbon dioxide emissions.
Educative games are available to make kids aware of the environmental issues of our Earth. Furthermore we were amazed by the biodiversity showed by the aquarium. What an opportunity to learn more about our Oceans and the marine fauna and flora. We visited the Smart Living Challenge Exhibition Zone
We were particularly impressed by all fishes who are so colourful.
We assisted at the feeding of penguins. It was so hilarious and a guide gave us some information about this special species of penguins and also a time of awareness.
But you have to be careful when you choose your day to come at the Two Oceans Aquarium because during holidays and especially on Wednesday there are a lot of children. So it is more difficult to do all the activities. After the visit you can go to the Aquarium’s restaurant. We took a table just in front of the wharf. We’ve enjoyed this moment, the weather was good the view too and a group of seals offered us a little show.
We wish everyone to have the same experience that we have had.
Interns fro Reunion, Lea and Akshay are following Cape Town Tourism’s Art & Creatives Route and also using the Arts + Crafts Map to help us find our way around.
