To allow everyone within the Cape Town CBD to benefit from the use of Wi-Fi, the Cape Town Parks Free Wi-Fi Project (#WDC404) has been implemented.
The World Design Capital Cape Town 2014 recognised project is the result of a partnership between the City of Cape Town, Cape Town Partnership, Connected Space and City Parks that will see the installation of Wi-Fi zones in parks and other public sites.
These zones, which will be equipped with the most advanced broadband wireless technology to deliver high speed Internet access, will allow for general browsing services to be made available for free to members of the public.
At the same time, Cape Town will be profiled through the landing portal.
The project has already launched its first trial at the Company Gardens with plans to expand the footprint to other areas. It is hoped that the project will soon reach townships where the benefits of internet access could help profoundly with opportunities for education, jobs, tourism and much more.
