The much anticipated “Boomslang” aerial tree canopy walkway in the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens is now open to the public.

A visit to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens is always a fun and memorable experience.

As part of their centenary celebrations though a new addition to the gardens is the tree canopy aerial walkway, affectionately known as the “boomslang”.

The clever construction makes use of the steep terrain so that the walkway is accessable by all, even wheelchairs.

The intricate latice metal work is complemented by a hand-crafted hand rail that comprises individually glued sections and an exempleray level of craftmanship.

Once on the walkway you meander through through a tree canopy tunnel and emerge over-looking the gardens and the greater Cape Town area. The views are stunning and benches along the walkway provide visitors with a chance to relax, read a book and take in the experience.

This walkway is set to become the next most popular visitor attraction in Cape Town! Early mornings are a great time to enjoy the walkway as the sun rises over the City, and the birdlife is starting to waken for the day.

Access to the walkway is free once you are in the gardens.
