The Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival (SICMF) brings together top local and international music students as well as acclaimed teachers, composers and conductors.
Jojann Wolfgang von Goethe famously described chamber music as “four rational people conversing”. This conversational paradigm has been at the centre of the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival, now in its 10th year.
Twenty-seven talented musicians from across the globe perform and teach at the 10th annual Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival. Among them are musicians who are members of the world’s most renowned orchestras, have performed as soloists in the most prestigious concert halls, and are considered amongst the foremost teachers. These include South African musicians as well as those from other parts of the world.
“All the musicians we have invited as faculty members for our 10th festival bring with them a wealth of experience, having performed all over the world. They are not only great performing artists but also excellent teachers who are able to share their knowledge with the young musicians who attend our festival,” says Schumann, an acclaimed pianist herself and professor of piano at the Stellenbosch Konservatorium.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the festival has launched a coffee-table book, edited by festival stalwart Adriaan Fuchs (see image accompanying this post)
