On Wednesday night, I got a chance to watch the hilariousThe Chester Missing Roadshow with Conrad Koch and his three puppet sidekicks live in action at the Baxter Theatre.
The Chester Missing Roadshow is not one to be missed and Koch, or should I say Chester, delivers with his usual political banter and tongue-in-cheek remarks. We’re also introduced to two new puppets; Hilary, the cougar ostrich with a drinking problem, and Ronnie, the green monster baby who requires medical sedation before the show. Needless to say, these whacky characters had the audience in stitches throughout the show.
Armed with a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology, Koch is recognised as South Africa’s top ventriloquist. He combines cultural insights with hilarious commentary and puppetry, and the result is truly entertaining. He is constantly exploring new directions in the ventriloquial art form where the drama of politics lends itself to satire and the theatre stage. The Chester Missing Roadshow is directed by award-winning Heinrich Reisenhofer and produced by Podium – The Comedy Merchants.
