For 2018’s final City Centre Cycle, Mayco Member Alderman Marian Nieuwoudt and Councillor Dave Bryant of Ward 115 (city centre) will be joining the party to provide brief inputs before the ride. City photographer, Bruce Sutherland, will also be joining to document the ride and there will be a group photo opportunity.

The City Centre Cycle is a 45-minute lunchtime group ride around the CBD, which aims to promote cleaner, safer, more accessible, low-carbon transport; raise awareness about bicycle safety among cars and develop a cycling culture in the city centre.

“Since our first ride on 28 September, we have had more than 70 participants hailing from over 25 organisations, businesses and local and provincial government departments. These weekly rides attract between 10-25 riders ranging from absolute beginners to experienced commuters,” writes Julia Munroe.

“After the ride we hope to celebrate the year-end over coffee in the Company Gardens Café (for own account) so please do join for that too if you can!”

WHEN & WHERE: Friday, 14 December at 12h00 noon sharp at Arch for Arch, corner Wale St and Adderley St, Cape Town 8000.  See map here

Please invite friends and colleagues, share this invite and bring your own bicycle and helmet. If you need to borrow a bicycle, a limited number will be available to be booked in advance for those who do not have their own. Please contact Julia to book one

Note that the City Centre Cycle is not directly affiliated with the City of Cape Town and is an initiative of interns from the City’s Urban Sustainability Internship Programme. Participants ride at own risk.
