The City of Cape Town commented on media reports on the viability of a dedicated cruise liner terminal at the Cape Town Harbour.
Executive Mayor Ald Patricia de Lille confirmed that Cape Town “unequivocally supports the need for a dedicated cruise liner terminal, as we believe it is essential to growing the tourism market and, as a result, job creation in Cape Town.
The City remains fully committed to working with our partners, in this case the Ports Authority and the V&A Waterfront, to ensure that we support this important growth sector in the tourism industry.
We will also continue our ongoing efforts to lobby international markets, to help ensure that we attract as much of the cruise liner industry to Cape Town as possible.”
That’s good news for Cape Town and its designs on promoting and consolidating its position as a leading tourist destination!
