Cape Town welcomes one of the world’s great clarinettists David Krakauer to the Mother City!
For the past 25 years Krakauer has established himself as one of the most important voices in Eastern European Jewish Klezmer music. He has gone way beyond mere re-creation and had taken klezmer into the 21st century. In addition to leading his own band he has shared the stage as soloist with the likes of the Kronos Quartet, the Detroit Symphony, the Emerson Quartet, the Dresdener Philharmonie and countless other great ensembles. His journey continues celebrating and sharing this amazing music’s’ rich and varied roots.
Krakauer’s recent performances around the globe include concerts in New York, Aspen, Paris and Tel Aviv.
In this very special concert David Krakauer meets our very own Matthew Reid to join forces and share ideas. As we all know, Matthew has been a tireless exponent of klezmer music and has done so much to create a vibrant scene here in Cape Town. This will be a rare opportunity to hear Krakauer backed by Matthew and the Playing with Fire Klezmer Band.
