David Kuijers and Tania Babb are known to present fun, light-hearted exhibitions to accompany the summer months at The Cape Gallery.
Both artists have adopted a spirit of change and renewal this year, seeking to launch their art into exciting new directions. David Kuijers will exhibit his first bronze piece as part of the exhibition, while Tania Babb looks at colour from a fresh perspective.
David Kuijers
“Over the last few years I have become increasingly interested in sculpture – not as an alternative to painting, but as another means by which to trap an idea. I have found laser cut steel fantastic for making simple iconic images and this year tried my hand at bronze for the first time. This exhibition will include my first offering in this medium.”
Tania Babb
“This body of work has been part of a metamorphosis that I am undergoing at the moment. It is, I think, going to catapult my creative endeavours into another direction. The pieces themselves are still evolving and this exhibition is probably not the end of the process, but it is the beginning. The matt, light absorbing surfaces and new relationship with colour are symptoms of this yearning for change.”
