David Kuijers and Tania Babb join forces in an exciting and vibrant exhibition at The Cape Gallery that opens on First Thursdays, 1 December 2022.
Life’s simple pleasure, family, friends, and pets are the focus of David and Tania’s art on this exhibition. The relatable characters that they draw, paint, or sculpt are not without attitude or wit. Overtly intimate and personal, their art is the vehicle of each artist’s explicit opinions. The holiday season is a time to sit back in a comfy chair, chat and appreciate the good things in life.

” ‘An anecdote to the nasty bites of life’ That is about what I come to when explaining my art.
It is a short answer that resonates with people instantly and lets me off the hook. The last three years have been the season of bad decisions by leaders and Joe Soap paid. And will continue to pay for the abuses of power. The nasty bits are like chunks in todays’ world.
Still the songbirds sing. The dog will be happy to see you. That must count for something.
It has recently been my pleasure to collaborate with my son Max. A few of these paintings and sculptures will be a part of this exhibition.”
Tania Babb
“Porcelain is a very seductive medium. It can do so much. I use it to Sculpt with. I have been a ceramic sculptress for the better part of 35years. I only hand build. My sculptures are evolving as my conversations with the world are evolving. Since covid, conversations have become more domestic. More intimate as values change. I have always been interested in representing people. People and animals. Always on the lighter side of expression. My sculptures are more diverse this year, as I feel for a new direction in this new world.”
