Michel de Certeau uses the phrase ‘pedestrian speech acts’ when referring to ways in which citizens appropriate streets and spaces by walking them (my paraphrase).
Join the District Six Museum in this ‘pedestrian speech act’ as they undertake walks of remembrance on Wednesday 19 June, the day on which the Native Land Act of 1913 was proclaimed.
Two walks will start from District 6 Museum: one at 11h00 and one at 17h00 on Wednesday 19.
Bring along a stone from your neighbourhood and a handful of salt from your kitchen. No rain is predicted for Wednesday but bring along an umbrella if you don’t believe the forecast!
