TheĀ  Cape Town based design team Handmade Change, has come up with an innovative and flexible DIY design solution for vertical gardens, and for collaborating with other craft producers to create an expansive range of pots and planters for their system.

Do you want your own hanging garden for veggies, herbs, succulents or even vases full of flowers? Get the DripDrip DIY hangers & planters!

The DripDrip DIY Hanging Gardening System is a basic kit of hangers that will allow anyone to hang almost any container, planter or vase on a wall. We want to see everyone set up and hang an easy DIY vertical garden of their own to display anything from herbs, vegetables, a succulent collection or even a vase or two full of flowers…

DripDrip DIY Hanging Gardening System:

There are 2 hanger designs:
ā€¢ One to hang handmade recycled PET and other plastic bottles, and
ā€¢ An adjustable hanger that you can use to hang almost any other container from.

DripDrip is suitable for herbs, flowers, succulents, leafy veg ~ what blows your leaves back…. It can be hung indoors or outdoors off any sturdy vertical surface. The current DripDrip hanger can hang up to 2.5kg and is made from stainless steel to give you a durable product that won’t corrode and stain walls or other surfaces. Included in the packs are wall anchors, screws and instructions on how to hang and maintain your DripDrip wall installation. .

Select your containers, vases or planters of your choice, set them out in an arrangement of your design, even make some containers of your own by recycling PET bottles and more. On an outside installation you can plumb in your gardens irrigation system, or leave it up to mother-nature, but keep on following us as we are also exploring a hydroponic system.

Handmade Change’s Milestones:

Seed Milestone 1: R10 000 – Planting time!
We need to raise Milestone 1 to plow the cash back into manufacturing:
ā€¢ To setup bending and welding equipment to improve the quality of the hangers;
ā€¢ Upgrade our jigs to bend heavier steel to hang heavier containers.

Sprout Milestone 2: R20 000 – Water and feed!
By our 2nd milestone we would like to collaborate:
ā€¢ To network with other designer makers and craft producers to make DripDrip planters and vases as extensions of their own product ranges;
ā€¢ We can think of great ideas in ceramics, recycled materials, glass, metals, wood etc.;
ā€¢ Develop irrigation kits including a hydroponic starter pack.

Grow Milestone 3: R40 000 – Harvest and share the fruits!Ā
With our 3rd milestone we wold like to invest in an intensive marketing campaign:
ā€¢ To sell and promote the hangers as DIY kits;
ā€¢ To package as product sets, the collaborating producers and crafters containers;
ā€¢ Retail direct through our own channels, and market through retail outlets like nurseries, even internationally if possible.
