This week’s two hot-ticket events in Cape Town.

The Africa Day eKapa edition of City Hall Sessions

Named after the Imperial Bodyguard Band of Haile Selassie era and Monty Python’s Tiger in Africa sketch, the six-piece Imperial Tiger Orchestra headed by Swiss-based trumpeter Raphael Anker perform their rousing Ethiopian beats in a series of concerts with the support of Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council. The Africa Day eKapa edition of City Hall Sessions includes guitarist-singer Ntombe Thongo from the Eastern Cape and Ringo Madlingozi presented by the Cape Town Partnership, and is directed and produced by Making Music Productions with the support of the National Lottery Fund.

African Metropolis

An initiative by Goethe-Institut South Africa and executive producer Steven Markowitz, African Metropolis is a compilation of six short-fiction films set in six major African cities (Abidjan, Cairo, Dakar, Johannesburg, Lagos, Nigeria), telling urban tales about life in African metropolises.
