♦ In celebration of women’s month and women empowerment, Artscape Theatre is hosting the Women’s Humanity Arts Festival 2015. Focusing on “humanity”, the festival will take place in various venues in the theatre complex. Stage productions will address humanness in our society. Some of the productions include Bittersoet, an Afrikaans translation of Deon Opperman’s Sweet Sorrows; Cold Case, a tribute to anti-apartheid political activist Dulcie September, who was assassinated in 1988; and two pieces by the Unmute Dance Company, directed by Themba Mbuli.

♦ A new gallery is opening in Cape Town with a group exhibition titled Cape of Good Hope. It features artwork showing different aspects of the city, such as history and architecture. The artists include Fayrooz Abader, Andrew Hart Adler, Chris Auret, Thomas Cartwright, Rayaan Cassiem, Michael Chandler, Katrine Claassens, Adriaan Diedericks, Robert Hamblin, Daya Heller, Lizza Littlewort, Johnson Tsoku Maela, Jenny Parsons, Khaya Sineyile and Karen Wykerd.

♦ The Cape Town City Ballet will perform in a dance production by Marc Goldberg titled The Vortex, which is a dance adaptation of Noel Coward’s controversial play of a similar title. The production deals with themes such as drug addiction in 1920’s high society, adultery, ageing and dysfunctional family dynamics in the characters David and Florence Lancaster’s home.
