The Mail & Guardian’s weekly round-up of the country’s hot-ticket events chose these for Cape Town.
The 10th annual Baxter Dance Festival showcases dynamic and diverse local and international dance and choreography. Kicking off on October 9, the main programme features works from established and invited companies and professionals. The off-main programme, from October 11, showcases work from up-and-coming choreographers and students, and the fringe from October 18 includes work from youth and school groups, dance studios and traditional dance groups.

The Waterfront’s Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa presents the contemporary photography of artists Zanele Muholi and Andrew Putter and British-born Yinka Shonibare in an exhibition titled Looking Back.

The Embassy of Japan hosts its 21st annual Japanese Film Festival, a showcase of six Japanese films with English subtitles. They are Tokyo Oasis, Akko Chan: The Movie, Fly, Dakota, Fly!, Tug of War!, Leaving on the 15th Spring and Rent-a-cat.
