After some stops and starts, the Cape Town Military Tattoo, which started in 2003, is now an annual event at the Castle of Good Hope.
The South African National Defence Force uses the tattoo to build bridges between the armed forces and the community and hopes that, in time, it will become a popular tourist attraction. Expect military bands, bagpipes, marching displays, Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with real cannon fire, military drills and demonstrations of army equipment and skills.
