For many Capetonians, leaving the city over New Year is a way to escape the madness.
For those doing the annual trek to Rock the River it’s a way to embrace it. The five-day jol features three stages — rock ‘n roll, electronic and metal — with more than 200 local artists and a variety of extreme outdoor activities. Van Coke Kartel, Lark, Taxi Violence and others will get the party started on December 29 and 30, and bands such as The Rudimentals and Hog Hoggidy Hog will see in the New Year. Hear 11th Hour, Sexodus and Chromium give Auld Lang Syne an extreme metal makeover.
