On a rare occasion, audience’s will be a part of Queen Elizabeth II’s “audience” at Buckingham Palace alongside the British prime minister.

Every week for 60 years, Queen Elizabeth II has held an audience at Buckingham Palace with the British prime minister  – and there have been 12 different prime ministers during her reign. Both parties have an unspoken agreement never to repeat what is said. But as part of the National Theatre’s broadcast season, The Audience by Peter Morgan imagines those conversations in a superb production, wonderfully filmed, with a stellar cast led by Helen Mirren as the queen.
