Flights of Fancy, opens at the historic Manor House in Boschendal, as part of the Norval Foundation and Boschendal Estate collaboration.
Flights of Fancy brings together artists using the imagination as an agent of change: “Artists dream and reimagine. Sometimes subtle, drawing attention to a play of light, a perceived colour shift, or change of form. Sometimes raw, intense. They pull apart and stitch together, tear down and build up. By questioning, reinterpret, and by challenging your viewpoint, create new worlds. They construct and deconstruct (Derrida) questioning the building blocks of language (Saussure), and even the structures behind culture itself .” (Foucault).
The Manor House doors have been opened to welcome an exciting and meaningful partnership with the Norval Foundation. This new satellite gallery will feature the best of South African and African art with rotating exhibitions.
Work has been completed on a sensitive renovation and restoration of the historic Manor House. In consultation with specialists from Cape Heritage, Boschendal and its architect partners have made temporary changes to the Manor House’s interior to accommodate the art displays and an anticipated increased footfall from visitors excited to see the Norval satellite art exhibitions at the farm.
Visit the gallery shop after your visit to take home print, momentos and curated gift items.
