EBONY/CURATED presents two exhibitions and the launch of their collaboration with Mūvek as part of this year’s Franschhoek Creates.

‘Night is The Mother of Thoughts’
Galia Gluckman brings materiality to the fragmented experience of thought, feeling and memory in her latest solo exhibition. A mixed media show that mirrors the essence of life in its balance of order and chaos.
Having participated in many collective and solo exhibitions, Gluckman is well-represented in both private and corporate collections across the globe. Locally, her work can be found in collections such as the M & C SAATCHI ABEL Collection, Rupert Collection, South African Presidential Collection and The Spier Arts Collection.
‘Reimagined Futures’
Reimagined Futures
Presenting the work of Franck Kemkeng Noah and Wole Lagunju, this exhibition challenges Western influence on African cultural identity while envisioning an alternative reality that subverts past narratives.
Franck Kemkeng Noah’s colour and rich incorporation of detail offer a uniquely vibrant take on the concepts of interculturalism, identity and civilisation. Through a new series of works titled ‘Culte’, the artist explores pre-colonial belief systems and envisions a utopian world where differences in religious practices cohabit together. Kemkeng Noah has taken part in numerous exhibitions. In 2022, his work was featured in a collective exhibition at the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac.
Respectively born in Nigeria and Cameroon, both artists comment on post-colonial hierarchies, reimagining futures informed by the knowledge and perspectives of African diasporic communities.

A furniture design studio based in Cape Town, Mūvek – Hungarian for works, exemplifies simplicity and craftsmanship in every piece. This event celebrates the launch of Mūvek at EBONY/CURATED Franschhoek.
