Guy Buttery: Master at work

That Guy Buttery has decided to release a live album tells you something about this acoustic guitar prodigy’s philosophy of music.

Acclaimed for his finger-style instrumentals that flow from ambient-impressionist sketches to quietly psychedelic sitar-like improvisations, mandolin-picked maskanda musings and pastoral tone poems, Buttery champions the tangible and the timeless. With this in mind, his first live album, Live in KwaZulu, gathers masterworks recorded over two nights at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The album showcases Buttery’s further explorations in instrumentation and innovative soundscapes. Catch him before a national (and international) tour at the album’s Cape Town launch.
