Happy 25th Birthday, FMR! “These are crazy times and this is the most unusual birthday FMR has ever seen – what with most of our personnel practising social distancing and working mostly from home”, says Mark Jennings, FMR Station Manager.
“But somehow we are ‘keeping it all together’, as they say, and the station is sounding very good. Listeners are loving it, and we have had an excellent response to our Membership Drives of April, May and June. We’ve increased FMR Membership from around 1300 at the start of the Lockdown to over 2000 now. And many listeners have chosen to make larger donations, for which we are very grateful. All this financial support has pretty much replaced our lost advertising revenue – and even that, we hope, will return one of these days.
Just a huge thank you to past and present staff, volunteers, presenters, Board Members, patrons, advertisers, listeners – in fact, all FMR stakeholders – who have made such a positive difference to FMR. Your role has been invaluable.
Let’s hope the Covid-19 crisis will pass one of these days and allow us to host a belated 25th birthday party!
