International Belvedere Singing Competition 27 June – July 2

Twelve singers, mainly from the Western Cape, have joined the nearly 80 who have already arrived from around the world to complete in the next rounds of the 35th international Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition.

The 2016 1st Prize winner was LEVY SEKGAPANE, Tenor, from South Africa.

The competition takes place at the Baxter Concert Hall on Monday (27 June) and Tuesday (28 June).

Some 50 of the competitors will go through to the semi-finals also being the Baxter on Wednesday (29th June) and Thursday (30 June).

Perhaps 15 of them will then make the final round at Artscape Opera House on Saturday, 2 July, at 18:00, where they will sing with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Kamal Khan. The finals are being directed by Cape Town Opera’s Christine Crouse.
