The dynamic Jewish Literary Festival 2020 Programme is now up on the JLF website.
You don’t have to be Jewish to enjoy this ‘word’ gathering of note, just a love of reading and conversation. While the heart of the festival is Jewish-themed, the speakers, events and audience all defy narrow categorisation and many of the talks are of universal interest. Joining international communities by hosting an event that celebrates the Jewish connection to words, this festival contributes to the cultural diversity of the Jewish community and provides an inclusive meeting place for the histories and experiences of South African readers and authors.
Authors on the Jewish Literary Festival 2020 Programme
Picture rubbing shoulders with some of your favourite authors.
Imagine being able to get the inside track from writers such as Joanne Fedler, Terry Kurgan, Diane Awerbuck, Jonny Steinberg and Joanne Jowell; or hearing about the J. Lyons dynasty straight from the mouth of award-winning author of ‘Legacy’, Thomas Harding.
Perhaps listening to Judge Dennis Davis debate with Pierre de Vos interests you or maybe getting a sneak preview into the new novels of Gail Schimmel, Hedi Lampert and Lynn Joffe? If you love the heady 60s and Leonard Cohen, there’s a session for you or, if sport is your bag, then cricket legend Ali Bacher in conversation with David Williams will tick your box. Then again murder and mayhem may be your choice, so Nechama Brodie, Tanya Farber and Annika Larsen will be on your list.
Whatever the genre, fact or fiction, health and wellness, sports, thriller or family stories, the third edition of the 2020 Jewish Literary Festival (JLF) on Sunday 15 March from 09h00 to 17h00 Gardens Community Centre in Cape Town, home to the iconic Jacob Gitlin Library, SA Jewish Museum and Cape Town Holocaust and Genocide Centre who partner the event, will delight a spectrum of book lovers.
INFO: Visit I view the programme of over 40 sessions and be spoilt for choice.
Any of our authors will be more than happy to autograph their books, all of which will be on sale on site through The Book Lounge, our associated bookseller.
