Johnny Clegg, this week’s big event at the Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts at Kirstenbosch, is totally sold out.  So why not check the February line up and book ahead.  A sunset concert at Kirstenbosch is a magical combination of an unique setting for memorably great music.  Don’t miss out!

Line up February 2014:

2 February  Fokofpolisiekar
In March 2003 the legendary 5-piece Rock outfit, originally from Bellville, penned down cult classics like ‘’Hemel op Die Platteland’’ and ‘’Fokofpolisiekar’’ and made a massive impact on the local music scene with their first musical offering, As jy met vuur speel sal jy brand, released by the end of 2003. Since then Fokofpolisiekar has had a controversial, exciting and successful career to date. Almost 11 years later the band will be performing their popular two-set, acoustic & rock, show. They will also be introducing brand new material in the spirit of the new-year.

9 February  Civil Twilight
Civil Twilight brings a perfect blend of atmospheric sound and hazy storytelling that transports you to another place.
With a string of radio placements in the USA, and a well developed audience, Civil Twilight spent the better part of the last year on tour playing the likes of Bonnaroo and Voo- doo Fest, opening for acts like Smashing Pumpkins and Florence & The Machine, and headlining their own shows across the country. Steven McKellar, his brother Andrew and Richard Wouters
are the members that make up the sound to Civil Twilight’s lush soundscape, haunting yet soothing at the same time.

14th February  Jazzanova / Lisa Kukeulele  / Goodluck

16 February  Freshlyground
Freshlyground have managed to navigate a successful 10 years in the South African music industry and have graced stages all over the world. Their ascension was rapid – they became a household name in South Africa in 2004 with the release of the smash-hit album Nomvula, and every album released since has generated at least one radio hit: Doo Be Doo, I’d Like, Pot Belly, Fire is Low & 2010’s world-wide hit with Shakira, Waka Waka. In October 2012 Freshlyground released their 5th studio album: Take Me To The Dance.

23 February  The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra
Two brothers, one Bruch …  Martin Panteleev and Vesko Eschkenazy, born in Bulgaria and with careers across the world, will meet at Kirstenbosch in the Bruch Violin Concerto with the Cape Philharmonic. This concert is part of the CPO’s International Summer Classical Music Festival. Panteleev, the CPO’s principal conductor, and Eschkenazy, concertmaster in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, bring the house down whenever the play together.  The CPO’s festival takes place for the 11th time this year.  Other works on the programme are Capriccio Italian by Tchaikovsky and Rossini’s Barber Overture.
