You begin at Rhodes Memorial Restaurant above UCT at 8 am. Your chaperone, Rezah, will meet you there.
The route takes you along footpaths and under canopied trees, through the magnificent Kirstenbosch Gardens, with stunning views of the southern suburbs. We will picnic on the way, so bring your own to enjoy and/or share.
The final stretch will take us through Cecilia Forest and into the suburbs of Constantia.
Guesthouse: The Little Orchard Bnb in Meadow Lane, Constantia.
Supper is up to you. Dine out at one of the StreetSmart SA or Camino Partners in the area, or order-in from local food delivery. Information on Camino Partners will be in your online Directory which you will receive on order.
Day 2, Sunday 29 September.
Wine to Water Leg 20 km.
After breakfast at your guesthouse, we’ll set off on the Wine to Water Leg (the very first Cape Camino Leg). Faizel is your chaperone.
A few km’s through Constantia suburbs and we arrive at Schoenstatt Shrine. You are encouraged to light a candle and sit in the shrine to set intentions for your day. Next on to Groot Constantia wine farm, a Kramat sacred space on Klein Constantia wine farm, through forests, greenbelts, fynbos thickets and the community of Westlake.
There are shops available to buy refreshments towards the end of the Leg.
Pack some snacks for the morning. We suggest lunch at the Steenberg Village about 3/4 of the way there. Or, hang on until the seaside town of Muizenberg for fish and chips or other lunch spots.
We’ll end on Muizenberg beach, a perfect spot to rest, swim, or enjoy a drink overlooking the ocean.
