Karen Elkington – Indian Ocean Dreaming is the artist’s first solo exhibition with EBONY/CURATED and opens on Saturday 16 – a very good reason to visit Franschhoek.
Inspired by the artist’s travels to Sri Lanka and rooted in her appreciation of the South African coastline, this body of work highlights the importance of climate activism while exploring an expressive use of colour and brushwork. Commenting on the exploitation of vulnerable ocean environments for monetary gain, Elkington plays with the notion of traditional seascapes by simultaneously perpetuating and questioning our dreams of beach paradise through her striking compositions.
Another good reason for a visit, is to see what’s available at EBONY/CURATED a few minutes walk away at Franschhoek Square!
