Symbiotic relationship between humans and nature in urban spaces

The Kobus Walker solo exhibition titled Ready Steady Grow opens at Art@Africa Gallery on Thursday 7 November at 6.30 and you are invited to attend!

“Ready Steady Grow” explores the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature in urban spaces. As city living expands, indoor plants have become essential, offering health benefits and a connection to the natural world. The exhibition highlights the importance of pollinators—bees, birds, butterflies—emphasizing how nurturing nature nurtures us in return.

Please note due to space constraints attendance is by RSVP only – RSVP HERE  E Thursday@artatafrica.art

Kobus Walker BiographyKobus Walker

Kobus Walker is a Pretoria based artist. He was born in Rustenburg in 1971. He matriculated in 1989 and studied at the Pretoria Technikon and completed a Fine Arts diploma in 1992.
After his studies he worked with fellow artist, friend and mentor Tivan van Dyk for almost 10 years. Together they worked on different projects, like murals at Caeser’s Casino, in London and in Egypt. He learned to work on a bigger scale and the different techniques involved with that scale. He started working as a full-time artist in 2007. Over the years he took part in different group exhibitions
and has had 7 solo exhibitions.
His work is mostly theme based. He takes inspiration from the classical painters, like Rembrandt and Paul Rubens and also from South African painters from the past, like Pierneef and Tretchikoff.
He takes these influences and remoulds them into his own indigenous statement with a contemporary context. Together it creates a dialogue between the viewer and subject matter. He has exhibited extensively since 1991. His recent exhibitions include
● Art@Africa, Solo exhibition, Layers of Perception – October 2020
● Various groups exhibition at Art@Africa, Zeitz Mocca, Hermanus – 2020
● Pretoria Art Association, Solo exhibition, Natural Selection – November 2019
