David Krakauer will be talking about his concert Klezmer Madness that takes place at the Baxter Theatre at 7.00pm on Sunday 21 July. You will no doubt discover what makes this world renowned, clasically trained clarinettist, who plays with leading quartets and orchestras, so passionate about klezmer music.
For the past 25 years Krakauer has established himself as one of the most important voices in Eastern European Jewish Klezmer music. He has gone way beyond mere re-creation and had taken klezmer into the 21st century. Krakauer’s recent performances around the globe include concerts in New York, Aspen, Paris and Tel Aviv.
In this very special concert David Krakauer meets our very own Matthew Reid to join forces and share ideas. As we all know, Matthew has been a tireless exponent of klezmer music and has done so much to create a vibrant scene here in Cape Town. This will be a rare opportunity to hear Krakauer backed by Matthew and the Playing with Fire Klezmer Band.
