Meraki is the new exhibition – a group show – that has just opened at DAOR Contemporary at Port of Cape Town.
“Meraki, a modern Greek word, derived from the Turkish “Merak” (meaning the labour of love, to do something with pleasure), which is applied to tasks, usually creative or artistic, but can be applied to any task at all. Meraki means to do something with passion, with absolute devotion, with undivided attention”.
- Meraki features thirteen exciting local contemporary talents working in a variety of mediums.

Daor Contemporary is located in an industrial building rescued from dilapidation; shaped, cleaned and transformed to showcase and celebrate some of the most exciting contemporary African artists of our time. As evidenced in this show, the gallery has a strong focus on South African and Pan African art from both mid-career and emerging talent, boasting a mix of various disciplines.
