Everything about Colombian band Bomba Estereo is hot.
Vocalist Liliana Saumet is best described as M.I.A. meets Juliette Lewis meets Die Antwoord’s Yolandi. The rest of the Bogotá-based outfit are equally sizzling. Their music mashes cumbia with dub, Afro-Colombian champeta, Peruvian chicha, dancehall and reggaeton to create an electro-tropicalia sound that promises to burn the roof down. Thanks to the FireÂfest Route, a new crosscultural music festival network, Capetonians will get to feel their heat along with the fire-starting sounds of Mexican duo Sonidero Mandril, Congolese-American electronic outfit Kongo Elektro and toby2shoes.
