My Cape Town Market in the Company’s Garden – combination of top musicians, dancing, gaming and a shoppers’ paradise, opens Saturday 16th and runs through to the 20th December.
Feel the festive vibes at this year’s My Cape Town Market Company’s Garden happening between 16 and 20 December at the iconic space in the CBD
‘Shoppers, gamers, music lovers, families and friends have to get to My Cape Town Market Company’s Garden because there is something special for everyone! Enjoy the best in live entertainment from Locnville, Jimmy Nevis and a host of other stars. Watch Cape Town’s top dance crews battle it out in the My Cape Town Moves competition. And this year we’re introducing an E-Sports Zone, which is perfect for all the gamers out there,’ said Alderman James Vos, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.
- Hundreds of vendors applied for a spot, and so there will be an incredible 150 stalls at this year’s market. This is composed of health and beauty, craft, clothing and toy vendors. There will also be 50 food bays serving burgers, schwarmas, tacos and much more.
‘It was so encouraging to see many vendor applications and I really must applaud Cape Town’s traders for putting themselves up and applying to be part of the market. A study conducted by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research for the City showed that this market contributed almost R10 million directly to vendors and generated over 400 jobs during this period… In my books, that’s 400 families having a better Christmas because they had an opportunity to make a living in very difficult economic times.
‘So remember, when you’re having a good time at the market, you are also supporting local traders and our economy,’ said Alderman Vos.
