My word! Wednesday 17 September to Sunday 21 is Open Book Festival time in Cape Town with a host of authors from South Africa in attendance.
The City of Cape Town is supporting this year’s Open Book Festival and its Central Library is one of the venues for several events on the programme. Cape Town’s Central Library will host several storytelling sessions and a Comic Fest workshop as part of the Open Book Festival offerings.
From humble beginnings, the festival now boasts more than 100 events and includes more than 100 local and international authors such as Wilbur Smith and Deon Meyer. Events range from storytelling sessions to writing workshops.
‘Open Book is a celebration of books and authors and we’re proud to be a supporter of such an important event on the literary calendar, in line with our commitment to promoting literacy and creating an opportunity city.
‘The festival gives readers an opportunity to interact with authors, gives aspiring writers a rare glimpse into the thought processes that goes into a literary work, and also reinforces a love for books,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Special Projects, Alderman Belinda Walker.
