OZCF Market Day is now located at Granger Bay, V&A Waterfront, adjacent to The Lookout events venue.

To celebrate the start of the season at the V&A Waterfront – its all pumpkins and they’ll be selling two varieties – 350kg of Crown Prince and 100kg’s of Iron Cap a small dark green pumpkin with a lovely silky taste. Crown Prince’ is renowned for its colourful rich orange flesh with a sweet and nutty flavour.

The pumpkins are organically grown in the Nuy Valley by the people from Nuy (near Worcester). An old variety of winter squash but still popular for its attractive, flattened fruits with a steely-blue skin, each weighing up to 4kg. They are good for eating and storing or decoration. Grown with love and the help of many bees. “Our thanks to Farmer Cialee Oosthuizen of Coveg, who usually exports these gorgeous looking pumpkins to Europe.”

The OZCF Market Day is a community farmers-style market for independent local farmers and artisanal food producers.

At the OZCF Market customers can do weekly food shopping for organically grown veg from farmers Mark, Tendai, Thomas, Rob, Skye, Masimo, the farmers of Abalimi Bezekhaya and Green Road, as well as fruit, artisanal bread, dairy, free-range and pasture raised eggs from Farmer Clare Bennette, honey from Junaid at the Honey Connoisseur and so much more.

Try delicious cooked and raw foods and be inspired about helping to build an alternative food system. Additionally, customers can buy heirloom seeds, compost and gardening supplies and equipment.

Catering for vegans and vegetarians, raw foodies, and customers who want wheat, gluten, sugar and dairy-free alternatives is important to us. We also sell indigenous and other plants, heirloom and organic seed and gardening products.

Communal tables are provided for visitors to eat at, or just enjoy the Saturday papers.

You can bring your dog along as long as you bring poo bags, keep your dog on a short leash and away from the food.

Remember to bring your own shopping baskets or bags and load Snap scan onto your phone, so that you can pay without using cash or a credit card.
