Palmer Road Muizenberg is featured on the Arts Round Up and Christine Crowley and Charlotte Corbett walk us down this historic heart of the village by the sea.
Listen to the Arts Round Up on Fine Music Radio FMR 101.3fm on Fridays at 17h30
Christine Crowley (on the R above) recalls that Palmer Road had been a road in Muizenberg, with a variety of traders, that has now turned into very artistic area with 19 businesses, 16 owned by women and most are art oriented. It all adds up to a good place to visit. A place for a walk, visit the the galleries and studios and take time out for a coffee or a beer. Christine runs Studio 21 where she exhibits her own work – paintings in acrylic, some drawings and portraits.
Charlotte Corbett has Studio 26, across the road from Christine. She produces ceramics but also show paintings, jewellery and the works of other artists. An ideal spot to find creative gifts!
Other galleries and spaces include Gina Niederhumer‘s workshop showing sewing, knitting and paintings. Bluepriest specialises in African fashion is a jewellery and design studio. Feet specialises in designer socks. There’s Sue Beatie’s Mosaic Studio and she also offers tours of mosaics in the area.
All this and more adds up to a distinctive vibe and presence! For a full list of who’s who, check Palmer Road Muizenberg in the 2025 Art Craft + Museums Map!
Charlotte also tells us that Open Studio Tours are being planned for this year – so watch this space to keep up to date with what’s happening.
