Patina has been described as ” an appearance or aura that is derived from association, habit or established character” and this is the theme for the group exhibition at The Ceramics Gallery.Â
In this case, the work on show is inspired by the habits of the earth, the wind, the erosion of rock, the unpredictable movement of water, and visual and textural effects thereof. The pieces on exhibition have been created by drawing on each maker’s personal interpretation of the word “Patina”, and the visceral imagery it evokes. It’s these memories and feelings that have guided works that transcend their simple materials.
On exhibition will be wood turning, ceramics, jewellery and paintings.
Exhibitors include, Bianca Bernstein, Birgit Duval, Diane Harper, Jonathan Keep, Lutge Design, Peter Nicolle, Lindsay Scott and Sarah Walters
The Ceramic Gallery is in the heart of Newlands Village and Sarah Walters show both her dometic functional ware here as well as one of a kind statement pieces. These periodic group exhibitions when show other makers work, including local potters and crafters such as weavers, knife makers, and wood turners
Opening Saturday 22nd July 10 am – 2pm serving wine kindly sponsored by The Drift Estate. As the exhibitions runs for two weeks only, get there on Saturday and say CHEERS!
