Photographer Tshepiso Seleke, talks us through his solo exhibition at the Barnard Galley of portraits of people in the place he calls home – Soweto. In this interview on the Sanlam Arts Round Up, he also comments on Alastair Whitton separate but connected solo exhibition at the gallery.

Giving a voice to the people he meets is what Tshepiso Seleke sets out to do. His photographs are about telling the stories of
people trying to survive and reaching out to a broader audience.

The people focus is what distinguishes his work from that of Alastair Whitton, who looks at place and space. Both projects consider the notion of place albeit from contrasting viewpoints.
