The Cape Heritage Museum

The award winning Cape Heritage Museum preserves, promotes, celebrates theĀ unedited history of the Cape, arranged chronologically, by exploring the arrival of the Portuguese and Dutch; their interaction with the indigenous San and Khoi people of South Africa; weaving through colonialism, the brutality of slavery; the emancipation of the slaves; the vibrant cultures of District Six and Bo-Kaap; the political climate in South Africa; the contribution of Muslim, Jewish, Christian, the African Indigenous Groups and Asian diasporas in shaping contemporary South African culture.

Experience a rare collection in excess of 1500 paintings, artifacts, photographs, and relics thatĀ narrates anĀ unedited and raw history of the South AfricaĀ through colonialism, imperialism, slavery, apartheid, gentrification, forced removals, cultural dialogue, religious diversity, political diversity and a full appreciation of what it meant to be a South African.
