Pops Mohamed and Dave Reynolds, the two world class African jazz giants will perform a once in the lifetime concert at the Jazz in the Native Yards series on Saturday 4 June and Sunday 5 June.

Famous for his collection and virtuoso on indigenous instruments, the fusing of unique sounds with local jazz and also equally comfortable with world music, Pops is playing with an equally illustrious and award winning musician Dave Reynolds. Dave has shared a stage with greats such as Andy Narell, Paul Hanmer, Hugh Masekela, Jeff Maluleke and Concord Nkabinde, to count a few.
New to the territory of the sprawling townships in the Cape flats, Pops and Dave are equally excited to be part of these gigs which have been make possible by Concerts SA.
“It is important that we perform our music in all corners of our beautiful country,” says Pops. “The young and not so young must be exposed to their own musical heritage that is mostly celebrated somewhere else.”
Dave says the repertoire is a mixture of world music, jazz and other musical influences from the African diaspora.
