Following the success of last years ‘Practice in the Park’ which saw an incredible 350 people take part in the outdoor yoga class at Green Point Park, it’s now time for round two. And the good news is that it raises funds for the Earthchild Project, a non-profit organisation.
The fun and inspiring class will be taught by two of Cape Town’s top teachers, suitable for all levels of yoga lovers and set against the magnificent backdrop of Signal Hill. Amongst the participants will be yoga teachers and students, their families and friends, as well as children and teachers from the Earthchild Project’s yoga programme in Khayelitsha and Lavender Hill.
About the Earthchild Project
The Earthchild Project is a registered non-profit organisation, which focuses on the holistic education of children, teachers and schools in disadvantaged communities in Cape Town. Their aim is to create meaningful and sustainable change by providing practical skills for life. The programme includes activities such as organic food gardening, worm farming, hiking clubs, healthy tuckshops, yoga and meditation.
Nokuphiwo Jada, Earthchild facilitator at Sakumlandela Primary School, said: “Growing up in an area like Khayelitsha brings its own dangers, its own fears. I have found yoga to be a great tool that allows me to love myself and to connect with other people, and I am happy to be able to teach a new generation of the virtues of a healthy, holistic lifestyle.”
