Rethinking Irma Stern is an initiative embarked on by the Irma Stern Museum in partnership with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED). They are excited to host the second Rethinking Irma Stern project this year.
For this initiative, all WCED Grade 11 Visual Art and Design learners were invited to visit the Irma Stern Museum or view the museum’s website, to analyse, re-think and re-interpret the work of Irma Stern in an art or design piece of their own. The learners who came to the museum had great fun participating in practical 3-hour long workshops and guided tours.
Come see the exhibition of selected learners’ art and design from 20 September to 12 October at the Irma Stern Museum. An independent panel of artist-educators chose seventy-two works for this exhibition – not an easy task, given the talent and imagination shown in the learners’ art. Do pop by the museum to see the creativity of the next generation of South African artists and designers.
