ROCKTOBER, a kick-ass party on Saturday 18

ROCKTOBER  is a party with a purpose, hosted by ‘The Doer Dads’ and featuring Freshlyground, The Rockerfellas, DJ Prophet, and Black Orchid Burlesque with MC Janez Vermeirin (Top Billing).

Who doesn’t want to party whilst helping those in need?

With this in mind a group of dads came together in 2012 at their local pub and conceptualized ROCKTOBER, a kick-ass party with some kick-ass live acts including their very own kick-ass Rockerfellas; The ultimate Mashed-Up-Bastard-Rock party band, whose amps can go up to 11. DID YOU KNOW that a normal band’s amp only goes to 10 ? … well except of course for the Rockerfellas’ ancestors Spinal Tap.

When challenged by a shortage of funds for their kids’ school computer room, this group of dads decided to do something about it. United by all their kids going to Camps Bay Primary School, inspired by a common purpose and motivated by a party, ‘The Doer Dads’ were born.  Their M.O. kick some ass and do some good.

The venue is The Side Show, 11 Machau Street Cape Town CBD. Doors open at 19.00. Performances begin at 20.00.

Says Peter Cohen, drummer of Freshlyground, and a Doer Dad, ‘I’m truly excited about this year’s Rocktober. The last two were great parties, and this year I get to attend as a performer. Being a dad at Camps Bay Primary and having been the drummer for Freshlyground for over 11 years, I decided to ask my colleagues if they’d award me a gig in order to raise some money for my son’s school….they obliged. Be there! It’s gonna rock.’
